A foundation named after the weather in our hills.
Romei is the Mizo word for the mist that settles over hills and valleys as the weather turns. It carries a second meaning too: in songs and poetry, romei zam — mist spreading across the landscape — stands for longing. We took the name because both readings describe the work: patient presence, and a feeling for the place.

Technology, used plainly
Deployment and demonstration of tools that hold up in hill terrain and thin connectivity, not pilots for their own sake.

Surveys, assessment, monitoring and evaluation, published so others can use what we learn.

Working with government, statutory authorities, academic institutions and civil society rather than around them.
